Picked up trash on Maple Springs. Enough cast off wooden boards from construction projects, car parts, furniture, etc. Along with 3 30-gallon trash bags of “regular” trash. Enough to file the bed of the Tacoma about 75%.

Picked up 12 more 30-gallon bags of trash in and around the Four Corners.
With the exception of Keith Eckstein, who drove the Tacoma, the crew consisted of 17 additional hardy volunteers on mountain bikes who rode up from the intersection of Silverado Motorway (5S05) and Maple Springs (5S04).
As the crew made its way up Maple Springs, it took about 1.5-hours to arrive at the top, what with stopping to pull debris out of the brush on the downhill side of the road, and the rash found on the road.
Once at Four Corners, the crew grabbed trash bags and fanned out, in the end collecting 12 more full bags.
The problem then became how to fit it all into the bed of the truck.
As it was a Saturday, Maple Springs would see much vehicle traffic. The fact that it was St. Valentine’s Day on top of that, promised that the vehicular traffic would be heavier than usual.
Keith began chatting with individual drivers, one by one, explaining the trach collection and asking if the driver would help out and take one bag down the hill. Adding one more trash bag to the individual’s household would not be a deal breaker.
In this way, only one trash back remained, allowing enough room to securely tie down Keith’s mountain bike to safely make it back down the hill.
After the work was done, the crew rode up N. Main Divide to Modjeska Peak to take in the views before descending back down to Four Corners. From there, some of the hardier riders continued south on Main Divide to descend Silverado Motorway to return to Maple Springs.
Please note that the volunteer hours for this report do not include the post-work riding.
