Sunday July 12 Pilates and Pints Fundraiser / Ride
We’re getting excited for our fun event happening this coming weekend Sunday, July 12. If you haven’t heard, we’re hosting a Pilates class at Brewery X in Anaheim, followed by drinks (including non-alcoholic options) and pizza. $45 donation.
In addition, Darshan will be leading a group ride to the brewery. We’ll leave the Villa Park area around 630 a.m. and ride through Santiago Oaks before making our way to Brewery X via a mix of roads and dirt passages. The route will be approximately 16-19 miles. Because the ride is primarily on roads and easy dirt, a gravel bike or XC mountain bike is recommended.
The Pilates class begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by drinks and pizza around 10:00 a.m. Join us for the ride, the class, the food and drinks–or all of the above.
For more information or to donate, visit the Pilates and Pints Fundraiser page on our website. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
Airport Fire Burned Trails Update
We met with district staff on Thursday, July 2 to discuss their plan and timeline for restoring trails in the Airport Fire Burn Area (SJT, etc). Progress is being made.
We expect volunteers will be needed in August to help staff access the trails so they can complete their assessments. This is a critical role in helping the Forest Service meet their timelines, so please stay tuned for more information.
As communicated previously, the three Trabuco Canyon trails–West Horsethief, Holy Jim and Trabuco Canyon–are being restored by a Forest Service contractor. They remain on track and we expect to host the VisionQuest in this zone next year!
Biking On Long Distance Trails (BOLT) Route
As mentioned in our last newsletter, last July, we submitted a route for federal recognition as a Long Distance Bike Trail under the BOLT Act. Since then, several articles have been published about BOLT recently, like this one from singletracks.com.
Be sure to learn more about the route we submitted and what BOLT recognition could mean for the Santa Ana Mountains. Visit our BOLT Route page and see what’s possible.
