Warriors News: End of February Update

End of February Update

Greetings ya’ll! This is your end of February update from the Warriors of the Santa Anas. If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome! You can catch up on past newsletters on our website.

Four Corners Trash Pick Up Day

Our Four Corners trash pick up day was an overwhelming success! Nearly twenty volunteers spent their Valentine’s Day giving love to their local mountains by picking up trash at Four Corners. Some of us drove up, some of us pedaled up and some of us did a little bit of both. Picking up other people’s trash might seem like a lame way to spend a Saturday but, actually, it was a lot of fun and quite rewarding to make a difference. A lot of laughs, good exercise, an amazing Modjeska Peak summit view and rowdy riding were had by an awesome crew. Check out our website blog for the video and photos of this epic day.

Waiting for 501(c)(3)

On the business side of things, we’ve submitted yet more paperwork towards 501(c)(3). We’ve got nothing left to do at this point except wait for our Letter of Determination from the IRS. This takes on average 6 months. So we wait.

Lowelifes

More interestingly, we recently met with the Lowelifes, a trail work organization for the San Gabriel Mountains. They have been very successful in restoring their fire-affected trails in the Angeles National Forest, so we wanted to get insight into their operations. As a follow up, our team plans to join the Lowelifes for their upcoming trail work event March 14-15. Sign up for the Lowelife’s mailing list if you are interested in volunteering with this trail organization.
